Traveling Ilocos Provinces: Itinerary and Post Accounting

Coming from Mindanao, I had gone to Luzon to spend my 7 -days ,3rd Quarter Vacation, Home Leave to the nth Power for the year 2012.  I planned to pay a visit in Ilocos Provinces as I have never been to the place since birth. Traveling alone, I was traveling blind and had no idea on which place I will be going. It would be another “Come What May” and “Bahala na si Batman at idamay pa si Superman” adventure.

Arriving in Laoag, I was lucky to be benefited by the FREE BUS RIDE project going to places in the city (ears clap clap clap). According to the staff of the Provincial Government in charge of the bus operation that day, the free transfer is a joint project of the province and the city government of Ilocos to help tourists returning locals  to ease the transfer from the airport  to the target destinations in Laoag City or to the bus/jeepney terminal stations bound for other tourist destinations at the outskirt of the city. It was a pleasant move from the LGU since the airport is actually kilometers away from the city and hiring a tricycle would cost you hundred of pesos.

Inside the bus I meet three fellow travelers Mark, Ruth and Elaine who were actually visiting Ilocos for the first time. We decided to share our notes in visiting the famous attractions of Ilocos Norte and Sur.

Here are the places, activities and adventures we had in the region:

  • Visiting the Heritage Site of Paoay Church
  • Malacanang of the North
  • Marcos Museum in Batac
  • Eating in Dap-ayan
  • Night Life in Vigan
  • Calle Crisologo
  • PTB Meet Up with (Edmaration)
  • Kalesa Tour in Vigan Tourist Spots
  • Vigan’s Hidden Garden
  • North North North (Pagudpud, Bangui, Kapurpurawan)
