Accommodation in El Nido, Palawan | Telesfora Beach Resort

Many think that visiting El Nido requires a lot of cash to spend a quality vacation in this world class destination. My stand on this issue is YES but 50/50.

Usually what eat most of the travel budget is the accommodation to where you are going to stay each night. It was also one of my considerations before I pushed my final decision for my do-it-yourself (DIY) solo trip in Palawan.

But if we are just going to be a curious and smart traveler we could get away from the overpriced and exaggerated hotel and resorts. In my case, an over the top accommodation is not my priority as I would rather venture on the beauty , quality and pristine ambiance of the place I am visiting.

I scheduled my trip in El Nido at the beginning of the lean season where fewer tourists flock the island. I did not make   reservation in any of the resorts I have seen in the internet and decided to look for myself during my arrival.

With the help of the tricycle driver, I asked him if he can recommend a place/room that is not too crowded and away from the town proper and most importantly located along the beach front. He took me to Brgy. Curong Curong , a community that stands on a beach line of El Nido. There were several budget friendly resorts in the area and I spotted the Telesfora Beach Resort.

Telesfora may not be as fancy as the others but I can consider it already as a bit luxurious on my end (personal judgment). The resort is a little bit far from the town of El Nido(less than five minutes tricycle ride). The room given to me is suited for two occupants for Php 700.00 during lean days and Php 1000.00 during peak days/season. Since I was a lone occupant, the manager Ms. Chat Jaboli gave me an additional surprising discount.

There were only few rooms available in the resort and most of the guests were foreigners. It was nice to see that the bed is accessorized with mosquito net placed on top in a fashionable way. Though I doubt there is an Anopheles mosquito in the beach area, I decided using it to once again experience how it feels to sleep under the loving protection of a mosquito net. The resort fronts the long stretch of white coral sand beach but since it was already the season of the southwest monsoon or the Habagat, the water was a little bit turbid with a lot of sargosum seaweeds scattered everywhere.

For the convenience of the guests,  the resort also provides island tour services. You just  have to book ahead of time the type of activity /island tour you wish to take. The tours in El Nido (islands or inlands) are standardized, where the price is fix to all tour agencies in the town.

I stayed in the resort for two days as I simply enjoyed the tranquility found every time I wake in the morning and having a cup of coffee while walking along the beach. I promised the locals that in time that I return to El Nido I will surely consider visiting their place once more. You can check my simple itinerary on how I enjoyed El Nido.
